Fried octopus

This woman at the fish market was selling fried octopus. I was a little dubious. I've had octopus before on sushi and stuff and have never really been impressed (it's always been kinda chewy), but this was really, really solid. Tender and peppery and slightly sweet. NT$50 for a bag. She offered us a deal -- two for NT$80, but we declined. So we walked through the fish market and I munched on the octopus. By the time we got to the last stall (maybe fifty or sixty feet away from the octopus woman) I decided that I'd try to buy the other bag if I could. Unfortunately by the tme we got back down to her, she had sold out and was packing up her stall. We went out to the fish market every day we were in Hualien and she never came back.
